In Russia, serial production of the first domestic ED 9060 engine with a power output of 45 kW for heavy drones is starting. This was announced by Andrei Bratenkov, Executive Director of the Novosibirsk Design Bureau Spektr.

The ED 9060 electric aircraft engine using domestic Sm-Co magnets is the largest in the country, Bratenkov added. According to him, in addition to Design Bureau Spektr, the project also involves NPP Istok, NPTs BAS TO, and Gornyi-TsOT.

It will be installed on the serial Ilya Muromets transport octocopter, which is capable of carrying a payload of 250 kg over a distance of about 250 km.
