The frigate "Admiral Essen" became the second Project 11356R ship to join the Black Sea Fleet in 2016. With a length of 124.8 m and a full displacement of 4035 tons, the ship can reach speeds of up to 30 knots, or about 56 km/h.
"Pervy Tekhnichesky" answers three main questions about the warship.
What missiles does "Admiral Essen" carry?
The frigate's main strike weapon is the 3S14 universal shipborne firing complex with eight cells. From it, the ship can use anti-ship "Onyx" missiles, as well as "Kalibr" family missiles – including 3M54 and 3M14. Anti-submarine 91R missiles are also launched from the UKSK.

All eight cells can be loaded with anti-ship missiles for combat with surface targets or cruise missiles for strikes against the shore.
How the ship defends itself
For air defense, the frigate received two vertical launch modules of the "Shtil-1" complex with 12 missiles each – a total of 24 9M317M anti-aircraft missiles. At close range, two six-barreled AK-630M 30 mm mounts are used.

Against submarines, the ship uses two twin-tube 533-mm torpedo tubes and an RBU-6000 rocket launcher. A Ka-27 helicopter is also stationed on board.
How much it weighs and how fast it goes
The M7N1 power plant with a total capacity of 56 thousand hp consists of two cruising engines of 8450 hp each and two afterburning engines of 22 thousand hp each. The maximum speed reaches 30 knots.

The cruising range is up to 4850 nautical miles at 14 knots, and autonomy is up to 30 days. The artillery is supplemented by a 100-mm A-190 mount and two AK-630M.
