The Russian main battle tank T-80BVM, thanks to the high ballistic characteristics of the standard 2A46M gun, has become a high-precision weapon from a closed firing position. This was stated by the commander of the combat vehicle, Igor.
According to him, to "hit the bull's-eye," sometimes just a few shots are enough.
If from closed firing positions, then we work at a distance of eight to 11 kilometers. Our gunners are professionals. They can "put" a shell "in the window" from this distance.
It should be noted that for firing at a distance of 11 km, the modernized T-80BVMs use standard high-explosive fragmentation shells (HEF), for example, the 3OF26 series. In this case, fire is conducted along a hinged trajectory.
But another key point is also important — the ability to fire at the maximum range from closed firing positions is determined not by a specific shell index, but by the ballistic characteristics of the 125-mm 2A46M gun and the use of methods for calculating and adjusting fire, including with the help of reconnaissance drones.
Earlier, Russian Kulibins came up with a revolutionary way to protect combat tanks. Now they are completely covered with shipping containers.
