On the night of October 14, drones attacked Sberbank's data center in Balakovo, Saratov Oblast. This facility is considered the largest data center in Russia.

According to Governor Roman Busargin, one person was killed and several residential buildings were damaged as a result of the attack on the city. At the same time, all infrastructure in Balakovo continues to operate normally.
Sberbank confirmed the fact of the attack on the data center. First Deputy Chairman of the Board Alexander Vedyakhin stated that all bank systems and services are operating as usual.
What is known about the attacked data center
A memorandum on the construction of the center was signed back in December 2020 between the government of Saratov Oblast, Sberbank, and Rosseti. According to the Saratov publication "Business Vector," journalists estimated the project at 122.2 billion rubles, but Sberbank's management officially did not confirm this information. It was planned to place about 120 thousand servers and up to 3,000 server racks on an area of 60 thousand square meters. The electrical capacity of the facility was supposed to reach 82 MW. Construction was intended to be completed in the first quarter of 2027: at the time of the attack, the facility was not fully commissioned, but some of its capacities were already operational.
The center is designed to provide Sberbank's IT infrastructure, as well as to host services for the state digital platform "GosTech".
