Russian airlines have begun to restore aircraft that have been in storage for a long time. According to aviation expert Oleg Panteleev, this measure was a forced response to the systemic crisis in civil aviation caused by the long-term decline of the industry.
Panteleev noted that the exact number of aircraft to be unpreserved depends on their types.
I do not have exact figures, but one can assume depending on the types. Well, for example, if An-24, An-26 or Yak-40, then there are many of them. If Il-96 - there are few of them. Tu-204-214, An-148 – there are also dozens of such aircraft.
The expert emphasized that the decision on mass unpreservation is dictated by the lack of alternatives: in the past decades, domestic production of civil aircraft was practically curtailed, and today the country does not have a sufficient fleet of modern aircraft.
At one time, the construction of civil aviation was destroyed, and we still cannot restore it.
His words are confirmed by Rostec data: the first restored aircraft have already been transferred to airlines, including passenger and cargo modifications of Tu-204-214, An-148 and Il-96.
