Russian carsharing services (car rental via application) can join the experiment on using the Unified Identification and Authentication System (ESIA) "Gosuslugi" to simplify driver verification. This is stated in a letter from the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation.
In December, a number of State Duma deputies sent a proposal to the head of the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation, Maksut Shadayev, to provide carsharing operators with the opportunity to use ESIA and the "Digital Profile" to identify users. Currently, motorists are forced to fill out a questionnaire manually, as well as transmit photos of their documents.
Information systems of carsharing services can be connected to the ESIA on an initiative basis as part of an experiment if they meet information security requirements.
The Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation recalled that there are currently no legal grounds that would oblige carsharing services to use ESIA. At the same time, the department supported this initiative and announced its readiness to prepare the appropriate legislative framework.
