For the first time in Russia, passengers will not need to present a passport when boarding a plane. This opportunity will appear at Sheremetyevo Airport, the press service of the capital's air harbor reported.
Identification will be carried out using the Unified Biometric System (UBS) and the Unified Identification and Authentication System (ESIA).
The experiment will begin on June 1, 2026. The pilot project will be launched on flights of the airline "Aeroflot" on the route from Moscow (Sheremetyevo) to St. Petersburg (Pulkovo).
The press service of the air harbor stated that biometrics will speed up pre-flight security checks. Air travel will become more comfortable for passengers.
