The Russian operational-tactical missile system (OTRK) "Iskander-1000" began to use new cruise missiles with the index 9M723-2. This was reported by the Telegram channel "Russian weapon".
According to the source, we are talking about a missile with a more high-impulse and heavy solid propellant engine.
It provides a range of about 1000 km and a maximum speed in the active section of 7–8.5 M.
Let us emphasize that the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation or official departments have not made any comments on this topic.
Military expert Evgeny Damantsev explained that 9M723-2 is capable of carrying high-explosive fragmentation or cluster equipment weighing up to 300–350 kg.
The missile is equipped with aerodynamic rudders and tail blocks of gas-dynamic control for maneuvering in the stratosphere and troposphere with available overloads of up to 30 units.
The guidance accuracy is supposedly provided by the GLONASS/GPS correction module "Cometa-R8". The West noted that the circular deviation of the Iskander-1000 missile does not exceed five meters.
