In Russia, it is planned to legalize the digital format of driver's licenses and vehicle registration certificates. According to the draft government decree, citizens will be able to confirm the availability of these documents using a two-dimensional barcode generated in the multifunctional information exchange system Max.
After scanning the code, the data will be automatically verified with the current information in the unified state information system — on the "Gosuslugi" platform. This will allow traffic police inspectors to quickly verify the authenticity of documents without the need to physically present paper versions.
As follows from the document, the corresponding amendments are intended to be introduced into the current Traffic Regulations. The new method of confirming documents will be equated to the classic one — from a legal point of view, it will receive equal force. The initiative is aimed at simplifying the interaction of drivers with regulatory authorities and speeding up administrative procedures on the road.
Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia developed a draft government decree allowing the presentation of driver's licenses and vehicle registration certificates via the Max messenger.
