The Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UZGA) has received an order for the first hundred LMS-901 "Baikal" aircraft. This was reported in a feature from the enterprise on the Rossiya 1 TV channel.
Journalists noted that the successful tests of the VK-800 engine proved that the "Baikal" is going ahead.
This year it must receive all certificates and begin its serial conquest of Russia's small aviation sky. The first orders for a hundred aircraft are already in place.
UZGA official representative Ekaterina Zgirovskaya clarified that this refers to leasing deliveries with a certain level of state support.
Because people need to be transported; in this case, there is no need to make money on them. That is the main task today.
Senator Sergey Muratov stated that the Ural Civil Aviation Plant has reached the final stage of "Baikal" production, but the project needs to be provided with financing.
According to the plan, the LMS-901 project will replace the outdated An-2. Designer Aleksandr Silin emphasized that the "Baikal" surpasses Soviet aircraft in speed and fuel efficiency.
