Siemens Replacement: "Power Machines" Prepares Second GTE-170.1 Gas Turbine for Shipment to Artyomovskaya TPP-2

The turbine will be delivered to the "RusHydro" PJSC's power plant under construction in the Far East

"Power Machines" has completed factory tests and is preparing for shipment the second GTE-170.1 gas turbine intended for the Artyomovskaya TPP-2 under construction in the Far East. The power plant is being built by "RusHydro" PJSC as part of the state program for the development of the region's thermal power industry.

The plant will use highly efficient combined cycle gas turbine technology with domestic gas turbines from "Power Machines". Two high-capacity GTE-170.1 turbines are planned for Artyomovskaya TPP-2, and the company also provides supervision and equipment commissioning. The second turbine has successfully passed factory acceptance tests, including rotor rotation with a turning gear on the assembly stand of the Leningrad Metal Works.

The first turbine, manufactured in November 2025, is already being shipped to the plant. The second one, after packaging, will also be delivered by rail. The design electrical capacity of the plant will be 440 MW, and the thermal capacity will be 456 Gcal/h, which will significantly increase the reliability of power and heat supply to consumers.

"Power Machines" has organized the serial production of domestic gas turbines with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia. The total investment in the project reaches 25 billion rubles, of which 6.9 billion rubles for R&D are subsidized by the state. Currently, the company's production capacity is 8 turbines per year and will increase to 10 from 2029. At the same time, work is underway to develop a line of turbines with a gradual increase in power and efficiency.

After Siemens' departure from Russia, the country faced the problem of providing modern gas turbines for thermal and combined cycle power plants, as Siemens previously supplied high-tech gas turbines for large facilities. In response, JSC "Power Machines" has undertaken the development and serial production of domestic high-capacity gas turbines.
