The "ERA-GLONASS" system is ready for online monitoring of the movement of up to 1 million civilian drones on land, water, and in the air. This was announced by Alexey Raikevich, General Director of JSC "GLONASS", to TASS following a report to President Vladimir Putin at the exhibition of unmanned vehicles in Moscow.
According to Raikevich, a unified identification system based on "ERA-GLONASS" will allow government agencies to receive online data on flights and owners of civilian drones. This transparency creates conditions for the safe commercial use of unmanned vehicles and stimulates the development of the industry. The system's infrastructure also allows for scaling monitoring to a larger number of autonomous vehicles in the future.
The system covers all movement environments: ground, surface, and air unmanned vehicles. 95 unmanned trucks have already been connected to "ERA-GLONASS", as well as unmanned boats in the Sakhalin region.
Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Andrey Nikitin emphasized that the system not only provides online monitoring but also increases the cybersecurity of drones, allowing for their movement to be forcibly stopped if necessary.
