The main secret of the "black" wing for the MC-21 revealed: Russia coped without imports

The production of carbon fiber was organized in the shortest possible time

Anatoly Gaidansky, General Director of JSC "AeroComposit", spoke about the details of the innovative high-strength composite material made of carbon fiber. It will become the basis for the wing of the new MC-21-310 aircraft.

According to him, the production process of aircraft components includes a multi-layer application of carbon fiber impregnated with a binding resin, which forms a composite material.

The domestic industry has established its own production of carbon fiber for the manufacture of the so-called "black" wing of the MC-21 in the shortest possible time.

The main development is an automatic "head" that allows you to lay the tape and weld it with a laser. Plus, its own software is its own mathematics that allows all this to work, and a human-machine interface. Completely Russian know-how on a turnkey basis.

At the end of the wing manufacturing, engineers test it for strength, applying a load 1.5 times greater than the maximum permissible, Gaidansky added. After that, the wings already on the liner undergo flight tests. For example, the MC-21 flight from Irkutsk to Zhukovsky took only six hours, and there was a supply of fuel left in the aircraft's tanks.

It should be noted that the composite retains its properties for up to 100 years or more, not being exposed to water. Thanks to the new materials, the costs of maintenance of composite vessels are reduced.

Earlier, the founder of the flight safety service RunAvia, Andrey Patrakov, stated to "Первому техническому" that during import substitution of composites for the MC-21 wing, a heavier structure was obtained, which led to a decrease in range and characteristics, returning the project to the level of Soviet airliners.

The "Aviation of Russia" portal called the nodes from which you can remove excess weight on the MC-21.
