Russian ships "Stoikiy" of project 20380 and "Elnia" of project 160 of the Baltic Fleet arrived in South Africa. They will participate in the trilateral exercises "Will for Peace 2026", the press service of the Baltic Fleet reported.
"Stoikiy" and the medium tanker "Elnia" of the Baltic Fleet made a scheduled call at the port of Simonstown.
The crews of the ship and the supply vessel will have the opportunity for a short rest and acquaintance with the sights of the republic.
At the end of their stay in South Africa, the Baltic sailors will take part in a joint multinational naval exercise of the Russian Navy, the Chinese Navy of the PLA, and South Africa in the Atlantic Ocean.
The armament of ships of project 20380 includes launchers of anti-ship missiles "Uran" or "Kalibr-NK", an anti-aircraft missile system, artillery installations, machine gun installations and grenade launchers. The ships have anti-torpedo and anti-submarine protection.
