Domestic Anti-Icing Equipment for Aircrafts Introduced in the Kirov Region

New KamAZ-based vehicle removes ice and prevents re-icing of wings

Modern domestic special equipment for anti-icing treatment of aircraft has been put into operation at the Pobedilovo International Airport (Kirov Region). The vehicle, developed on the basis of the KAMAZ-43502 chassis, is designed to ensure flight safety in winter and meets the current requirements of the aviation industry.

Icing of critical aircraft surfaces — such as wings, stabilizers, and the keel — significantly impairs the aerodynamic characteristics of the aircraft and creates serious risks during takeoff. To prevent such threats, a thorough treatment of the aircraft is carried out before each flight.

The new equipment is capable of:

  • effectively removing snow and ice deposits from the surface of the fuselage and supporting structures;
  • spraying heated Type I anti-icing fluid for instant cleaning;
  • applying Type IV anti-icing compound, forming a protective film and preventing re-icing for a certain period of time (holdover time).

The airport's aerodrome technical service personnel are already undergoing specialized training to master the new equipment in order to ensure uninterrupted and safe operation in winter navigation conditions.
