Serial production of heavy all-wheel drive truck chassis and vehicles under the BAZ brand has officially been launched at an industrial site in St. Petersburg. Production facilities are deployed on the territory previously used for the production of European brands Scania and MAN models.
According to Mikhail Podvyaznikov, Deputy General Director of the concern and head of the Obukhov Plant, the company plans to produce at least 600 units of equipment in 2026. The maximum annual capacity of the plant is designed to produce up to 2,000 vehicles.
The new trucks have undergone comprehensive testing in various climatic and road conditions - in the Volga region, the Urals and the Leningrad region. Following the tests, their reliability and compliance with the stated technical characteristics were confirmed.
BAZ vehicles are a completely Russian development. The vehicles are equipped with independent suspension and are designed for operation in harsh conditions. The serial model line is designed to replace heavy off-road trucks of the so-called "Big Seven" in the domestic market: Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Scania, MAN, DAF, Iveco and Renault Trucks.
