Roskomnadzor will not block Telegram in Russia until all significant channels have switched to the national messenger Max. This opinion was expressed by the head of the Duma Committee on Information Policy, Sergei Boyarsky.
Boyarsky recalled that Telegram is not only a messenger, but also a social network. It has many large channels with a large audience covering events in Russia.
Of course, forces and funds have been invested in them.
According to the parliamentarian, a sudden blocking would deprive users of their usual sources of information, which is wrong.
As a reminder, in August 2025, information appeared about blocking calls in Telegram. Supervisory authorities explained this decision by the need to combat fraudsters in the messenger. The Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation recommended that Russians switch to Max.
