Heavy UAVs in Russia to Become Cheaper, Better and More Mass-Produced

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has identified three strategic priorities: scaling, improving and reducing costs

The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation has identified key vectors for the development of domestic production of heavy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). According to the ministry, the priority areas will be a large-scale increase in production volumes, improving product quality and simultaneously reducing the cost of Russian drones and their components.

As the ministry explained, the implementation of these tasks will strengthen the country's technological independence in the field of unmanned systems and ensure the competitiveness of domestic developments in the domestic and foreign markets. Special attention is planned to be paid to the localization of critical nodes and modules, as well as the optimization of production chains.

Key measures include the development of cooperation between defense and civilian enterprises, the introduction of digital production technologies and the unification of platform solutions. This, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, will not only reduce costs, but also accelerate the introduction of new models to the market, ensuring flexibility for both military and commercial applications.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking on a direct line, drew attention to the strategic importance of the development of unmanned aviation systems in both the military and civilian sectors. He also noted the shortage of unmanned platforms with heavy lifting capacity.
