Rosprirodnadzor continues to identify violations in placer gold subsoil areas, but their number did not increase in 2025, TASS was told by the head of the service Svetlana Radionova. According to her, the use of Earth remote sensing data has significantly strengthened control and allows us to "see" unscrupulous subsoil users.
Radionova expressed the hope that Rosnedra will begin to revoke licenses from violators and stop issuing exploration licenses on a declarative basis. According to her, the service records violations of mining technologies, shortcomings in geological projects and errors in placing mineral reserves on the state balance sheet, which causes significant financial damage to the state.
Currently, Rosprirodnadzor, together with the Prosecutor General's Office, is inspecting several regions in order to take strict measures against violators and strengthen control over subsoil use.
Earlier, the head of Rosnedra, Oleg Kazanov, stated that from 2026 Russia plans to ban the issuance of licenses for geological exploration of placer gold on a declarative basis. This change should limit access to mineral resources for unscrupulous participants and increase the transparency of the industry.
