Gold production will increase in Kamchatka: Sigma to build a new mining and processing plant in 2026

The plant will appear on the territory of the Ozernovskoye gold ore deposit

The Siberian Mining and Metallurgical Alliance (Sigma) will build a mining and processing plant (GOK) for the extraction and processing of ore on the territory of the Ozernovskoye gold ore deposit in 2026. This was reported by the press service of the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation.

The planned capacity of the gold recovery plant is 600 thousand tons of ore per year. More than 8.8 billion rubles will be invested in the project.

The funds will be directed to:

  • development of quarries
  • purchase of special equipment and automated operational dispatch control systems
  • organization of a village for shift workers

The Ozernovskoye gold ore deposit is located 700 km north of the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Its reserves are estimated at 30 tons of gold.

The territory of the deposit was studied in the period from 1980-1990s, in the early 2000s, as well as in 2010-2015. Industrial gold ores were found in three sections, the exploration depth is 25-50 m.
