As part of the research work, ground tests of the RD-93MS engine, adapted for use in the Strizh supersonic demonstrator, have been completed. The modernized engine was developed by specialists from UEC-Klimov in close cooperation with scientists from TsAGI.
The engineers paid special attention to the design of the jet nozzle: it is made in a flat shape with an oblique cut - a solution first used in Russia for civil aviation. A combined technology including laser sintering, welding, and milling was used for its manufacture, which made it possible to achieve high accuracy and the necessary strength characteristics.
During tests on the ground stand, a noise reduction system developed by TsAGI was installed, designed to reduce the acoustic load during take-off modes. The resulting traction characteristics fully met the requirements of the technical specifications, confirming the readiness of the power plant for further integration into the demonstrator.
This stage was an important step in creating a comprehensive technological platform that could form the basis of a future Russian-developed supersonic passenger aircraft.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the development of a new test complex for ekranoplans has been launched in Zhukovsky.
