UAZ has presented a large-scale update to the Patriot SUV: the new 2026 version has received a diesel engine, a 6-speed gearbox, and fully LED optics. The prototype is already undergoing testing at the factory site. Details are published by Autonews.

The main external innovation is lighting. The SUV is equipped with fully LED headlights, taillights, and dynamic turn signals. The manufacturer is considering two headlight design options - with silver and darkened trim, while preference is most likely given to the dark version. The lighting equipment comes from China, but localization of supplies is being discussed.

The interior has also undergone significant changes. The Patriot received a new multifunctional steering wheel with heating, audio system control buttons, Bluetooth, and cruise control in the top version. The instrument cluster has been redesigned - the analog style is preserved, but the on-board computer has been improved. The central tunnel, transfer case controls, and multimedia system are integrated with 7 or 9-inch screens, and the gear lever has become higher and more convenient.

The main technical innovation is the 2.0 Sollers 550010 turbo diesel engine with a capacity of 136 hp and a torque of 320 N·m. It works in tandem with a new six-speed manual gearbox. To install the diesel engine, the engine compartment, crankcase and supports had to be redesigned, and the fuel system was completely replaced with an "anti-sanction" one. In total, about 15 new parts were created, including intake and exhaust manifolds, brackets and a particulate filter. The structural rigidity has even increased, and the engine complies with Euro-5 standards.

The prototype demonstrates elasticity on the go and a smooth start, although minor flaws remain - a tight clutch and audible turbine operation. By the time of mass production, these points will be eliminated. An important part of the modernization was enhanced corrosion protection: according to the plant, about 85% of the previous problems were solved through new seals, anti-corrosion materials and changes in technological processes.

With the release of the Patriot-2026, the previous equipment will be gradually restored: front airbags, heating, seat belt pretensioners, front parking sensors, and later ESP and ASR will appear. Three standard configurations are planned, including a simplified corporate one, and in the future, diesel and gasoline engines will be able to work with an automatic transmission.

The updated Patriot will become the flagship of the modernized UAZ line, and similar changes will affect the Pickup and Profi models with a diesel engine and MКП6, as well as the Hunter SUVs and SGR trucks with an updated electronic architecture. The new version promises a combination of modern technology, localized components and familiar reliability, which is important for Russian roads and operating conditions.
