The cantilever truss was installed at the under-construction third power unit of the Leningrad NPP-2. This was reported by the press service of the State Corporation "Rosatom".
The device was welded from two steel half-rings, enlarged with water supply and steam discharge pipelines, support legs and a corridor for access by operational personnel. The installation of the cantilever truss took 12 hours, it was installed in the reactor shaft above the melt trap.
At the next stage, the cantilever truss will be supplemented with the necessary pipelines and temperature control sensors.
The cantilever truss will protect personnel and reactor shaft structures from the effects of elevated temperature and neutron and gamma radiation. The installation of the lower plate in the reactor shaft (the last element of the melt localization device) will be carried out in early next summer.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the Leningrad, Kursk and Smolensk NPPs had completed the cobalt-60 plan ahead of schedule completed.
