Russian flag raised on crabber "Alexander Sapozhnikov"

The CCa5712LS project vessel will improve the efficiency and environmental friendliness of fishing in the Far Eastern region

The Onega Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant (OSSRZ) hosted the ceremony of raising the flag of the Russian Federation on the new crabber "Alexander Sapozhnikov" - the fourth vessel in the series under the CCa5712LS project (Crabcatcher 5712 Live Storage). The vessel was built as part of the first wave of investment quotas and will become the seventh in the fleet of the "Russian Crab" Group of Companies.

The crabber was named in memory of Alexander Sapozhnikov (09.07.1952 – 05.05.2024), who headed the "Russian Crab" Group of Companies until his death in 2024. His contribution to the development of the domestic crab fishery was key to the implementation of a large-scale fleet renewal program.

The CCa5712LS project was developed specifically for the extraction and transportation of live crab. The vessels have an enhanced ice class Ice2, which allows them to operate in the harsh conditions of the Far Eastern seas all year round. Compared to the existing fleet, the new generation of crab catchers is characterized by:

  • increased productivity;
  • improved seaworthiness;
  • advanced automation and digital monitoring systems for technological processes;
  • increased level of environmental safety;
  • improved living and working conditions for the crew.

The integration of modern digital solutions on the vessel will minimize the human factor and increase the efficiency of fishing operations.
