Belgorod Shipyard Launches Research Vessel "Vikenty Zaitsev"

The TSK.550 project vessel will explore the waters of the Far East and the Pacific Ocean

The construction of the research vessel (NIS) "Vikenty Zaitsev" of the TSK.550 project has been successfully completed at the Belgorod Shipyard under the technical supervision of the East Siberian Branch of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (Russian Classification Society). This is reported by the RCO press service.

The keel-laying ceremony took place on December 8, 2022, and became an important milestone in the implementation of the state program for the development of the fishing fleet. The project was developed by specialists from Tyumensudokomplekt, and the customer is the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO).

The vessel is designed for comprehensive oceanographic and ichthyological research in the waters of the Far East and the Pacific Ocean.

Technical characteristics:

  • a two-deck vessel with a size of 36.3 meters by 7.3 meters and a displacement of 314.6 tons;
  • equipped with an echo sounder for hydroacoustic surveying, a trawl complex for catching individuals for biological analysis, and a multifunctional laboratory;
  • vessel autonomy — 10 days;
  • the vessel can accommodate four crew members and seven members of the scientific group.
