It will be possible to talk about the prospects for exporting the MC-21-310 abroad after the industry meets the needs of domestic carriers. However, against the background of news about Airbus' development of a new generation medium-range aircraft, current aircraft in this segment are likely to look less efficient. This was reported to "Perviy Technicheskiy" by Oleg Panteleev, Executive Director of Aviaport agency, aviation expert.
Panteleev expressed confidence that the design of the MC-21-310 will eventually be brought to achieve the advertised flight range of 5100 km. He also recalled the not very successful experience of exporting Sukhoi Superjets, when a number of foreign operators did not receive the service they expected. As a result, the aircraft showed worse operating efficiency than they could with proper maintenance.
The right conclusions have now been drawn. MC-21 aircraft will soon begin to be supplied to the domestic market, but at the same time, spare parts warehouses and maintenance centers will be deployed for them. Over time, while we meet the needs of Russian companies, the inevitable "childhood diseases" of the new aircraft will be eliminated and its flight characteristics will be improved. This will make the MC-21-310 a competitive and attractive product for foreign buyers.
At the same time, the specialist noted that against the background of the modernized A320neo or Boeing 737 MAX, the Russian MC-21-310 looks good, but what will happen in the future is a question.
Against the background of a new generation of medium-range aircraft, which Airbus expects to bring to the market in the second half of the next decade, the aircraft flying now will not look so efficient. Therefore, the "window of opportunity" for domestic products is limited.
The MC-21-310 has export potential, but it remains to be seen during operation, aviation expert Roman Gusarov noted in an interview with "Perviy Technicheskiy".
