On the night of December 6, astronomers recorded two flares on the Sun at once — M1.1 and M8.1. They were accompanied by a strong release of plasma towards the Earth, the press service of the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the IKI and ISZF reported.
According to observations, the plasma cloud will reach our planet on Tuesday, December 9, tentatively in the morning.
Experts noted that the radiation power of the second flare at its peak was close to the extremely strong X-category. At the moment, scientists do not have a forecast for the new event, but a powerful magnetic storm is not yet expected.
