The company «Sputnics» (AFC «Sistema») plans to create an analogue of Starlink — a Russian satellite Internet system that allows you to connect to the network directly from smartphones.
For the development of technology, the company requested the authorities to allocate frequencies in the ranges of 1610–1621 MHz (Earth – space), 2483.8–2494.8 MHz (space – Earth), 10700–11700 MHz, 14000–14495 MHz and others.
At the meeting of the SCRF in December, an application will be considered for the allocation of spectrum only for development work and technology testing. The issue of frequencies for commercial use is postponed until the creation of a technical platform and the formation of a project for the proposed satellite constellation.
A similar review will take place in December for the project of the company «Bureau 1440», the launch of the commercial service of which is scheduled for 2027. The Ministry of Digital Development believes that competition between satellite communication systems will have a positive impact on the development of the industry. «Sputnics» admits that different projects may complement each other, rather than compete directly.
