Makhachkala Port to Equip Largest Grain Terminal in the Caspian with AI Equipment

The project is being implemented jointly with the Chinese holding Famsun

Makhachkala Sea Trade Port will equip the new grain terminal with equipment featuring elements of artificial intelligence. This was announced by the company's General Director, Dzhamal Aliyev, at a press conference in the regional center "TASS Kavkaz".

According to him, the partner of the project is the Chinese holding Famsun, one of the world leaders in the production of equipment for grain terminals. When choosing a supplier, the port's specialists focused on companies that are most advanced in the field of digitalization and automation of logistics. The equipment has already been purchased and is being prepared for delivery to Russia.

Aliyev noted that the terminal will be managed remotely — from a tablet, using artificial intelligence systems, which will be a unique solution for Russian ports.

The General Director of the enterprise also emphasized that the port is actively working on solving the problem of personnel shortage in the industry. With the support of the government of Dagestan, investors, and the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport, a new Maritime College has been established in Kaspiysk. In 2025, the first 70 students enrolled there. From 2026, the educational institution will become a branch of the Astrakhan University of Maritime and River Transport named after General Admiral Apraksin.

Future specialists will be trained in the fields of "navigation", "ship mechanics", and "ship electricians" — professions that are particularly in high demand in the maritime industry today.
