India will lease a nuclear submarine from Russia. According to preliminary estimates, the deal could amount to $2 billion.
Sources report that the parties have already reached an agreement. Indian officials visited the Russian shipyard in November.
India plans to receive the submarine within two years, although delays are possible. It is not yet known what specific submarine is being discussed.
As a reminder, Russian President Vladimir Putin will arrive in New Delhi on the evening of December 4, where his two-day visit to the republic will begin.
One of the central topics of the negotiations will be cooperation in the defense sector, including the supply of Su-57 fighters andS-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile systems, said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
