Specialists from the Institute of Applied Geophysics (IPG) reported five flares of the second highest power class that occurred on the Sun on November 29. All events were recorded in active region number 4294.
The first flare, class M5.9, occurred around 01:00 Moscow time. Later, four more were recorded: M1.6 at 03:02 and 07:20, M1.1 at 16:16, and M2.9 at 19:07. The duration of the flares ranged from 8 to 48 minutes.
Earlier, specialists from the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the IKI RAS and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics SB RAS noted that the registered events were the first significant flares after the start of a new burst of activity. The main active region of the Sun, designated as 4274, is still behind the edge of the star, but signs of its approach are already being recorded by magnetic structures in the northeastern part of the solar disk.
According to scientists' estimates, the activity of the Sun may increase in the coming days when region 4274 appears on the visible side, which may lead to new flares and increased geomagnetic disturbances on Earth.
