Children at Risk in Roblox: Roskomnadzor Reports Risks of Illegal Activities in Popular Online Game

The agency pointed to insufficient content moderation on the platform

Roskomnadzor stated that the popular gaming platform Roblox, which is popular among children, creates conditions for illegal activities. The agency's press service noted that internal moderation systems do not ensure the complete safety of published content.

The press service noted that, in accordance with the decisions of authorized bodies, Roskomnadzor has repeatedly sent notifications to the Roblox administration demanding to restrict access to prohibited materials.

According to RKN, the game contains a large amount of inappropriate material that could negatively affect the spiritual and moral development of children.

Earlier, State Duma deputy Nina Ostanina stated that children as young as eight years old are being involved in criminal activity through social networks and games, including Likee and Roblox. She added that negative content affects children's psyche through fear, suggestion, and manipulation.

In early November, a journalist from the British newspaper The Guardian spent a week in Roblox posing as an eight-year-old girl and recorded serious cases of violence and psychological pressure from adult players. These included virtual violence, bullying, aggressive stalking, attempts to hide actions from parents, and the presence of gambling playgrounds. At the same time, parental controls did not provide protection.
