Not only on the MC-21: composite wing to appear on UAV for the first time

At the Congress of Young Scientists in Sirius, the concept of a new generation drone, Snegir-2, was presented. The device will receive a black composite wing, enhanced aerodynamics, and a modular architecture to solve a wide variety of tasks, the developers told "Pervyi Technicheskiy".

Redesigned contours, mass redistribution, and a new power plant give the aircraft stability in turbulence and high energy efficiency.

The composites are all ours, there is carbon fiber. We order everything from Russian factories. Including the Polytechnic University has a laboratory of composite materials, they also actively help us.

Snegir-2 has a wingspan of 3.5 m, a maximum take-off weight of 25 kg, and carries up to 8 kg of payload. A 10×10 meter площадки is sufficient for take-off and landing.

Estimated speed is 200 km/h, range is 200 km, typical flight time is about 70 minutes.

This is a flying laboratory, a camera, sensors, датчики, and so on can be installed here. For example, it flies over a gas pipeline, detects some changes, can switch to vertical mode, fly closer in коптера mode, take some pictures, then switch back to airplane mode. It is capable of flying 200 km, small drones cannot do that.

The device was built according to a fully modular scheme — key components can be replaced without special tools, which is important for operation in the field. The central zone has been redesigned — the useful volume has been increased, which allows you to install different types of equipment.
