As part of extensive preparations for the new 2026 sports season, the legendary Russian team «KAMAZ-master» has moved its training camp to China. Team members are undergoing intensive testing in the extreme conditions of the Ulan Buh Desert, one of the most challenging and sparsely populated areas of the vast Gobi Desert.
The group includes experienced pilots Andrey Karginov, Bogdan Karimov, and Almaz Akhmedov, as well as team leader Eduard Nikolaev. Special attention is paid to young talents: graduates of PAO «KAMAZ»'s educational initiative, the «Technogorod» project, Danil Telepov and Dmitry Avdeev, are participating in the training camp. They are already undergoing their trial by fire on the track and dream of driving a sports KAMAZ on the international stage in the future.
Training in Ulan Buh aims to practice tactics in off-road conditions, navigation across difficult terrain, and testing the latest technical solutions in truck design. Sand dunes, sudden temperature changes, and minimal infrastructure make this region an ideal training ground for simulating the conditions of major rally raids, including the Dakar.
According to the press service of PAO «KAMAZ» and the team's technical reports, the car is equipped with a KAMAZ-740.35-400 turbocharged diesel engine with a capacity of 400-900 hp (depending on the competition regulations), a 6-speed ZF automatic transmission, and permanent all-wheel drive. The curb weight of the racing KAMAZ is about 9 tons, while it is capable of speeds over 135 km/h even off-road. The frame design, suspension with double Bilstein shock absorbers, reinforced axles, and a unique cooling system are all the result of many years of engineering work by Russian specialists.
Throughout its history, the «KAMAZ-master» team has won 18 victories in the Dakar truck category, making it the most titled in the history of rally raids.
