The increased weight of the Russian import-substituted aircraft MS-21-310 is due to the fact that domestic composite materials are heavier than foreign ones. This was stated by former Sukhoi designer Vadim Lukashevich.
Last week it became known that the flight range of the MS-21 was reduced to 3,830 km, previously it was 5,100 km. Among aviation experts, there were suggestions that, in fact, domestic parts are heavier than foreign ones in weight.
Domestic composites are indeed heavier than foreign ones, which is why a fully import-substituted aircraft became heavier by about 3-5 tons. The designer allocates about 100 kg per passenger, including up to 30 kg of luggage.
Lukashevich continued that, taking into account the excess weight of 5 tons, the passenger capacity of the MS-21 will have to be reduced by 50 people.
The following dilemma arises: either maintain the number of 170-175 people, but reduce the range, or leave the range, but reduce the number of landings.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the import-substituted MS-21 made only 23 out of 293 flights to complete certification.
