The United Engine Corporation (UEC, part of Rostec State Corporation) has developed a new engine that combines two types of fuel - methane and hydrogen. This was announced by Dmitry Karelin, Deputy General Designer of UEC.
According to him, the work is underway on a special hydrogen burner.
How to make the burner work on both methane and hydrogen? This is a rather big scientific problem that we are solving for ourselves. We are currently testing a 32 mWT engine in Samara, which we are developing and which is equipped with these burners.
In October, UEC already showed a prototype of an industrial engine with a capacity of 32 MW. The unit is designed for transporting gas through main pipelines.
The engine was produced at the Samara enterprise "UEC-Kuznetsov", it was created on the basis of a serial unit with a capacity of 25 MW using modern technologies and solutions.
