Over the past 10 months, 1.06 million new cars have been sold in Russia. Of these, 555 thousand are cars that were assembled in Russia. Thus, the share of local car assembly this year exceeded 52%. For comparison, last year it was 41.5%.
The reason for the increase in the share of localization is that many Chinese manufacturers have started assembling cars in Russia. Thus, Haval, Tenet, Jetour, Kaiyi, BAIC, SWM, Voyah, and Jaecoo are produced in the country from the "Chinese". Russian authorities hope to increase the level of localization to 80% in 2035.
Recall that in 2024, the minimum value of the localization level for the last four years was recorded - 41.5%, but even fewer cars were assembled in 2008, when European brands did not leave Russia. Then the share of localization was 44%. The indicator of 80% was recorded in 2016, and a year later the highest level of 85.5% was reached.
