Producers reduced output amid overall decline in alcohol production

Vodka production in Russia decreased by 5.6 percent in January–October 2025 compared to the same period last year, amounting to 60.76 million decaliters, according to Rosalkogoltabakkontrol. Overall, the production of alcoholic beverages, excluding beer, beer drinks, cider, poiret, and mead, decreased by 7.8 percent to 139.48 million decaliters. Cognac production fell particularly sharply, by 16.5 percent, to 6.63 million decaliters.

Following the results of January–September of this year, vodka production already showed a decrease of 6 percent, and official sales decreased by 4.5 percent to 54.46 million decaliters.

Experts attribute the decline in production to a decrease in consumer demand, rising costs, and increased control over illegal alcohol trafficking. At the same time, analysts note that the market may stabilize by the end of the year, provided prices are maintained and consumption recovers.
