A military transport plane Il-76 of the Sudanese Armed Forces crashed in West Kordofan, according to the local newspaper Sudan Tribune.
The crash occurred during a cargo delivery mission. The plane experienced a technical malfunction in the right wing, after which it caught fire and crashed.
The crew managed to steer the aircraft away from military positions. All crew members died in the crash.
The Il-76 is a Soviet and Russian heavy military transport aircraft developed by the Ilyushin Design Bureau. The aircraft was serially produced at the Tashkent Aviation Production Association named after V. P. Chkalov in Uzbekistan.
In 2010, the production of the aircraft was officially transferred to Russia at the Aviastar-SP plant in Ulyanovsk, where currently an updated version of the Il-114-300 is being produced.
