Approximately 170,000 pages and channels with an audience of over 10,000 subscribers have been officially authorized by Roskomnadzor. This was announced by Ekaterina Larina, Director of the Department for the Development of Mass Communications at the Ministry of Digital Development of Russia.
The initiative is being implemented as part of the law on the de-anonymization of popular page owners. From November 1, 2024, all users whose accounts on social networks and messengers have more than 10,000 subscribers are required to provide their data to Roskomnadzor. The measure aims to increase the transparency of the media space and the responsibility of authors of large platforms.
To date, over 168,000 pages have been registered in the Roskomnadzor registry. At the same time, more than 300,000 applications have been submitted. The main reason for rejection is insufficient audience size.
According to her, many bloggers with a slightly smaller number of subscribers than 10,000 also want to undergo authorization, but face legal restrictions.
