The Aurus Motors plant in Yelabuga is approaching the end of 2025 with minimal activity: about 140 cars are planned to be produced by the end of the year. In fact, this is not a full-fledged production, but the final assembly of the remaining cars, since new bodies from Sollers are no longer received.
According to employees of the enterprise, almost all cars of the current year are made in black. Only 4-5 cars are painted in other shades. Production is carried out in small batches, and official sales remain extremely modest - on average, no more than two or three cars are sold per month. At the same time, several dozen Senat sedans at different stages of readiness have accumulated at the plant: some are about 95% complete, about 30 cars are fully assembled, but have not yet been shipped.
The production plan for 2026 has not yet been approved. In January, Aurus will continue assembling pre-styling bodies, but later an updated version should be put on the assembly line, which is currently only produced on a trial basis at NAMI. The main technical problem remains the unavailability of welding equipment. Despite this, the project is formally on schedule, although employees note that the plant is saving on literally everything - down to expendable trifles like paper napkins.
Some global brands also practice small-scale production and accumulation of finished cars in order to minimize costs. In Russia, this approach is rare - usually mass production either stops completely or works continuously. The introduction of restyling may allow Aurus to expand its range and attract new customers, but the timing remains uncertain.
