The towed 130-mm M-46 gun continues to actively work against heavy equipment and bunkers even in difficult weather conditions. The battery commander with the call sign Gromila spoke about the effectiveness of the 75-year-old weapon.
According to him, sometimes the calculations perform up to 60 shots at a target. Ammunition is replenished in a timely manner thanks to the well-coordinated work of the rear services.
The most important factor in the effectiveness of the M-46 is its close connection with reconnaissance UAVs. Drones quickly adjust fire, and the M-46 hits targets with a high percentage of hits.
Note that the M-46, developed in 1950, is an old but reliable system due to its simple design and large caliber. Proven ballistics gives a high effect with minimal maintenance.
Tactical and technical characteristics of the M-46 gun:
- Initial projectile speed — 930 m/s
- Sighting range — 27490 m
- Barrel length — 7150 mm
- Weight — 7700 kg
In conditions of restrictions on complex equipment, these "ancient guns" remain a practical and affordable tool for artillery support.
