The "Nikolay Zharkov" motor ship, Project 00840 "Karelia", will make five cruises to the White Sea in 2026, according to Ilya Sukhovolsky, Deputy General Director for Development at Vodohodъ Cruise Company.
The cruises will take place in the White Sea, passing through Arkhangelsk and the Solovetsky Islands, with some routes including the village of Umba in the Murmansk Region. The "Archipelago of History and Mysteries" routes include four cruises lasting eight to nine days, while the fifth route, the "Pomor Ring", will take 15 days.
Initially, the launch of the first cruise on the "Nikolay Zharkov" motor ship was planned for this year, but the dates were postponed to the summer of 2026 due to delays in commissioning the vessel. The delays were due to the need to redesign the vessel and difficulties with the supply of components against the background of the current sanctions.
The "Nikolay Zharkov" is the lead vessel of Project 00840 "Karelia". It was launched on July 11, 2025, at the Krasnoye Sormovo plant in Nizhny Novgorod.
The vessel is designed for 183 passengers, its length is 131 meters, its width is 13.8 meters, and its speed is up to 22 km/h.
