Deputies believe there are difficulties in verifying access to adult content

The implementation of the initiative to access adult content on the Web using passport data verification will be associated with the risk of personal data leakage. This was stated by Anton Tkachev, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy.

Of course, implementing such a mechanism will be very difficult. Passport information is a special category of personal data with high sensitivity. Entering it on various Internet resources can provoke many potential leaks, which will lead to serious consequences for users.

The parliamentarian believes that alternative verification options should be considered, such as biometrics. According to him, in this case, personal data is not stored, and digital templates are used.

The idea of introducing mandatory identity verification through passport data for viewing materials with the age marking "18+" was expressed in the Public Chamber of Russia. It is claimed that many minors regularly encounter adult content, which contributes to the consolidation of distorted behavioral models in the younger generation.
