A pilot project to create a digital analogue of paper documents will be launched in the Max messenger. It is called "Digital ID". This initiative, according to the platform's press service, aims to simplify the process of verifying the identity and status of citizens.
"Digital ID" is a modern solution that allows users to confirm data such as age, student status, or the status of a parent with many children. Identity verification is carried out using a dynamic QR code that is updated every 30 seconds. This ID will be valid exclusively on the device on which it was created.
In order to create a "Digital ID", users need to update the Max and "Gosuslugi" applications to the latest version. Then, in the "Profile" section, select the "Digital ID" icon and click the "Create" button. After that, consent to the use of biometric data, such as face recognition or fingerprint, will be required. Users will also need to verify their identity by providing a foreign passport or undergoing an online verification procedure. After completing all the steps, you need to take a selfie to finally confirm the readiness of the "Digital ID".
The security of using "Digital ID" is ensured by several factors. Firstly, the QR code cannot be copied, as a white screen will be displayed on the image when trying to take a screenshot. Access to the QR code is only possible via Face ID or fingerprint, which excludes the possibility of unauthorized access to personal information. When scanning a QR code, personal data remains inaccessible to third parties.
"Digital ID" can be used in various situations, such as checking into hotels, purchasing goods that require confirmation of age over 18, as well as to confirm the status of a pensioner, a parent with many children, or a student. This innovation promises to greatly simplify the lives of citizens, providing them with a convenient and secure way to manage their documents.
