Fresh video footage has surfaced online showing Russian T-80U tanks from the 3rd Armored Brigade of the Republic of Korea Army.
The footage, presumably taken during exercises or demonstrations, has generated considerable interest as it demonstrates the presence and, possibly, active use of Soviet armored vehicles in the South Korean army's arsenal.
Analysts have already begun studying the technical characteristics and condition of the vehicles.
T-80U tanks were delivered to South Korea in the 1990s in a quantity of 80 units.
The 3rd Tank Brigade of the Republic of Korea Army is the only unit in the South Korean armed forces equipped with Russian armored vehicles.
T-80U (GRAU index - Object 219AS) is a modified main battle tank of the T-80 family.
Technical characteristics of the tank:
