The Russian online service Avito has removed a fake advertisement for the sale of allegedly stolen jewelry of French monarchs from the Louvre.
An advertisement was posted online for the sale of a stolen parure (a set of jewelry) of the French Queen Marie Amalia, which, among others, was stolen from the Louvre yesterday. The price indicated in the offer was 250 million rubles. The ad has now been blocked by the service.
Earlier, a group of unknown persons, posing as workers, used a tower to enter the second floor of the Louvre. They smashed the windows and stole nine valuable items belonging to the French emperors. Among the stolen items were a necklace, earrings, two crowns, a brooch and a set of dishes.
