The Yandex team has introduced a new update to the "Yandex Translator" service. The Buryat language is now available to users. It has become the second language from the Mongolian language group offered in the service, in addition to Mongolian.
With the new functionality, users can translate texts from Buryat to more than a hundred other languages and vice versa. Access to this tool is available on the website, in the "Translator" application, and in the translation section of the search engine.
For the successful implementation of the Buryat language, information collected by the Republican Center for Supporting the Study of National Languages and Other Ethnocultural Subjects "Belig" was used.
Yandex is actively developing a project to preserve the languages of the peoples of Russia in cooperation with the House of Peoples of Russia and with the support of the Federal Agency for Nationalities Affairs. Initially, only 7 languages of the peoples of Russia were available in "Translator", but now there are already 15.
In addition to Buryat, the translator also features Tatar, Bashkir, Mari, Gornomari, Udmurt, Chuvash, Yakut, Tuvan, Ossetian, Komi, Erzya, Moksha, and Karachay-Balkar.
