Глава «Газпрома» Миллер связал развитие ИИ в России с добычей природных ископаемых

Artificial intelligence technology implementation will lead to a threefold increase in energy consumption

The widespread adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in various sectors of the economy is fraught with increased electricity consumption in many countries around the world. This was stated by Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Management Committee of PJSC Gazprom.

According to the top manager, not all states will be able to meet these needs.

This is actually a doubling or tripling of electricity consumption in leading economic centers. Can they afford it?

If not, then after a while these countries will find themselves on the sidelines of the global economy, he noted.

Miller is confident that Russia will be able to quickly implement AI thanks to its rich subsoil. Gazprom's natural gas reserves reach 35.1 trillion cubic meters, and the volume of deposits in the Arctic region is estimated at 87 trillion cubic meters, the head of the energy company concluded.

Analysts predict that in 2025, the AI market in Russia will grow by 25–30% to 1.9 trillion rubles. Currently, 95% of revenue from AI monetization comes from Yandex, Sber, T-Technologies, VK, and Kaspersky Lab. New technologies are used in civilian projects, including medicine, education, manufacturing, and the defense industry.
