The demonstration satellite "Skif-D", created by the company "RESHETNEV" (part of Roscosmos), became the first in orbit at 8070 km. The spacecraft was launched on October 22, 2022 from Vostochny by the Angara-A5 launch vehicle with the Perseus upper stage. It was the first launch of the heavy Angara-A5 rocket from the Vostochny cosmodrome.
Mastering the 8070 km orbit is a step ahead, as this space route has good potential for creating promising space systems.
The mission of the demonstrator is to test the retransmission of signals from domestic onboard equipment and study the factors of outer space.
"Skif-D" is a medium-orbit satellite communication system created as part of the Russian Sphere target program. It is designed to provide satellite Internet services to ordinary subscribers.
Earlierwww1.ru reported thatthe Orlan-MKS spacesuit No. 7 passed tests in orbit.
